Question Zippered half chaps and spurs - possible?

Hi all, I'm an english rider in the desert who can't stand putting on my full chaps in the summer. Recently I've tried a pair of half chaps and liked them, except they were the velcro tabbed kind and when walking I tend to catch them on saddles pads, etc.

So now I want to buy a pair but am concerned that the snap on most zippered half chaps will interefer with my spurs, which are just your everyday .5" blunt spurs. I also have the Ariat paddock boots with the back zipper (in addition to front laces), which ads just a little bulk in the spur area.

Will the zippered kind work with spurs, or should I save up for the Ariats with the velcro all the way up?

Thanks a bunch!

Depends on the half chap. Most ariat ones are cut so that you can use spurs.

yes.
i ride with mine everyday.
if they arent cut out like most of them are, you can slighty pull them out of the way of the spurs.

I have never had a problem with half chaps and spurs... i wear dublin easy care half chaps that have a ziper and have never had a problem with english or western spurs. i like spurs much better with half chaps than full chaps! I have the ariat lace up paddock boots, do not have the zipper in the back, but never heard of a problem with the zipper boots either!

If you put your spurs on first and then put on the half chaps any style will work.

My spurs sit underneath the edge of my half chaps? I will have to get a picture for you...

Great -- thank you all so much for your feedback. I didn't even think of putting on the spurs before the half chaps. I've ordered some Ariats and eagerly await my first ride in them!

OOOOHHH
your an English rider...
hm...
i posted a reply already with two links. Since the (english) spur rest is hidden by the chaps, i just put the spurs on the heel, where it comes out slightly. Trust me, ive done it and it works. It doesnt slip, it doesnt come loose, only thing is that the end tilts downward but doesnt affect riding
