Zee loses his Studlyhood Tomorrow

I'm taking Zee in tomorrow to be gelded. I hope all goes okay. That's they scary thing about having a stud colt is the gelding. The chance something may go wrong. Sophie is also getting her skin knot if that's what I would like to call it removed from her leg. She cut herself this last winter and the skin did not lay back down and heal to her. It ended up healing up in a ball. She keeps thumping it so now she'll have a big ugly scar on her leg but at least it will be gone. The vet didn't want to remove it before she had her baby or stress her out while we were trying to rebreed her. Should've done it anyway but you never know . In 3 weeks I'm going to start the weaning process. He'll be about 5 months at that time. I will be leaving him here and taking Sophie in town. I found a great place to rent pasture and they have a nice shed to put hay in for the winter. Auto waterer too with a heater for winter time. Both Zee and Sophie will be in at the pasture then I will take Zee away . Sophie is not going to be happy but we will be bringing Tuffy (my mom's mare) to keep eachother company while they deal with seperation. How exciting this will be. Argh.

He did good yesterday. Poor mom and him. They both were drugged to have things done to them. Zee castration and Sophie had a skin ball removed. I took them to their new pasture yesterday. It's in town so I have them a lot closer. There is a steer pastured there right now, he's the funniest thing. He came bounding over when he seen us and kept bouncing around excited to see some company. I will be checking on him mornings and evenings for the next week.

When I had Bandit done this spring the vet had me trot him for 10 minutes everday, it kept the wound open a little so it could drain, and helped speed up the healing process.

He's doing very well. I hate giving him the shots. I'm not to experienced and the needles are HUGE. Feels like I'm going to go right out the other side. He does very well when getting them. Two more days of horrid shots. I probably make it worse for him instead of just getting if over with.

I gave him his last shot tonight. This one didn't go so well. I did his buttcheek yesterday and just a flinch from him, today he hauled off kicking and bucking so i went back to his neck. The last two days he's wanted nothing to do with me. "There's that mean woman coming to stab me again". I will have to do a lot more sessions of just grooming and treats in the same area he got his shots. My husband should be coming home tomorrow so maybe in the mornings I can spend a little more time with him.
