![]() ![]() | Your Worming Schedule? I had a convo with a friend about worming schedules. She says she worms her horse twice a year: once in spring with strongid, and once in fall with an ivermectin product. I have heard others say that they do it as much as every month..... How often do you deworm, and using what? I usually go every 6-8 weeks, depending on the time of year, and I rotate products. We live in Michigan if that matters.

| Senior Member | I do FECs and bloodtest (blood for tapes), and deworm accordingly. Hardly no need to deworm at all up in the mountains where I live. Hot dry summers and really cold winters. A lot of friends has been able to cut down severely on deworming since they started doing FECs (in other parts of the country). The one thing you must check is what ERP (egg reappearance period) the substance you're using have. No dewormer has a 6 week ERP. Pyrantel = 4 weeks Ivermectin = 8 weeks Moxidectin = 12 weeks Prazikvantel = over 16 weeks |
