Thank you Willow for stating that. I was not meaning to attack you in any way, Mandi (although I don't think that I did, I didn't call you any names I just asked questions because what you were saying was crossing itself). And I am sorry if I offended you.

I did not mean for this to turn into a fight, however I was extremely offended when I was told that I deserved to die. You yourself stated that humans were designed for eating meat, so I'm not sure why it is that I deserve to die for eating it. And don't say it's because I kill them (which I don't, my dad shoots them (it's humane!)), because if you eat meat you are just as guilty of killing an animal as those who hold the gun.

Why is it that attitudes flare when not in agreement on the subject. No one is "better" than anyone else. What started out as a good debate turned into an argument. If you want someone to not harass you about your beliefs then do not harass others for theirs.

I will agree to disagree.
well said! i agree with willow!

i also agree with cow...
you were TOTALLY out of place saying that she deserves to die!...i eat meat..i ove cetain meals with meat...couldnt live without it (literally)...itz nice that you think you are saving the world be becoming a vegan...but its not just you who has 50 acres inwhich your horses run loose on!....lots of ppl do!
and partners with your horse? uumm...well lets see.... i do not jump on my lab partners back and pen him up until ready to rode him! and if i did when peolple asked me say...well its okay...hes fenced up in 50 acres, with a river, and i dont use a saddle!....
i own horses...not saying this is wrong...but i OWN my horses...no i do not abuse them...we have a understanding, a trusting bond. she trusts me and will do anything to keep me happy. in return i feed her, give her shelter, love and affection!...
please do not critisize us...as you know nothing about us! nor do i know anything about you...so i am not critisizing you!..."do unto others as you want done to yourself"

The horrible injustice we did to these creatures of such grace and spirit - was to domesticate them in the first place. Man domesticates an animal, breeds and cross breeds for personal gain and enjoyment, and we are left with thousands upon thousands of "extras". It's a sad and simple truth. It's impossible to turn back time, the tide will be forever flowing. More and more of them will walk that isle to their death. It's ugly, it's heartbreaking. But sadly, there is no other choice for many, many horses/cats/dogs. But I for one will never send any of my horses to be consumed.

This is for those who are Christian and have their faith in God and his words from the Bible. Other than that, don't fight me on the belief part. To each their own on this.

Genesis 1:28
God blessed them and told them, "Multiply and fill the earth and subdue it. Be masters over the fish and birds and all the animals."

Genesis 7:2 & 8

2 Take along 7 pairs of each animal that I have approved for eating and for sacrifice, and take one pair of each of the others.

8 With them were all the various kinds of animals - those approved for eating and sacrifice and those that were not - along with all the birds and other small animals

Genesis 9:1-7

God blessed Noah and his sons and told them, "Multiply and fill the earth. All the wild animals, large adn small, and all the birds and fish will be afraid of you. I have placed them in your power. I have given them to you for food, just as I have given you grain and vegetables. But you must never eat animals that still have their lifeblood in them. And murder is forbidden. Animals that kill people must die, and any person who murders must be killed. Yes you must execute anyone who murders another person, for to kill a person is to kill a living being made in God's image. Now you must have children and repopulate the earth. Yes, multiply and fill the Earth!

THis is from the Bible in Genesis. STATING animals are our FOOD. If you choose not to, oh well. I am tired of hearing GOD in the mixture (though I dont think it's been thrown around this forum as of yet) but since I had my bible nearby, I wanted to write that before I forget about it.

Animals ARE food. And I believe we DO have better ways than way back then on killing them, which back then slicing their throats WAS common practice. They didn't have bolts that we have now.

Anyways, lets' not attack anyone, which I've read "attacking" statements on here.

State your views, ask questions, but don't accuse anyone of anything. That isn't how a good debate works.

The horses aren't being killed for nothing. They are being packaged and sent overseas for FOOD. So it isn't a total waste.

I did not read through all 4 pages.
I am a firm believer in slaughter. To say it is evil and awful, is saying you should not have pork chops or hamburgers for dinner or bacon for breakfast. Does the cow and pig have less value than the horse? Other countries are the exact opposite as us, and worship the cow and eat the horse. Just because we would not eat horse, does not mean we have the right to condem or critisize those who do. It is an entirely different culture, and it is not up to us to preach to others what we deem right or wrong. Us americans tend to think our way is the only right way.

When I am at a sale, and you see alot of horses in kill pens, i feel a great relief for them. For most, they are finally almost done with their painful journey through life. I despise when people 'rescue' horses out of kill pens. People don't do it to make the horse feel better, they do it to make themselves look and feel better. Most of those horses don't need to be saved, they need to be out out of their misery and left to start a painfree life. When people rescue them out of those pens, they are only prolonging their pain by trying to fix them.

If it came down to it, I would eat what I had to survive. Anybody on this board that just breeds for the experience, and other lame excuses cannot be a hypocrite and say they think it is mean, because half of the backyard, poorly conformed, weak jointed horses being sent to slaughter are due to poor breeding.

No matter what you think, the odds are high you will never have that cute horsie forever
