My grooming secrets are pretty basic: manes and tails: only brush when i have to and only after a detangler is applied. they get long and lie flat because of no broken hairs due to over grooming. Body: I groom almost everyday with a good body brush that spreads the oils from the skin through the coat and they shine like crazy. Faces: I brush with a soft face brush the go over with baby wipes to catch the loose dust and hair. |

Shedding Blades work awesome on a shedding horse plus they make them really soft and shiny! I just used my shedding blade on my horse for an hour (she has full winter coat from being out, but has been in a heated barn for a week, plus it's been hot, and she is shedding like no tomorrow) I got a huge shovel full and a half, and she was starting to get her shine back and is INCREDIBLY soft. Also I use a great conditioner spray on her. I believe it's made by the same company that makes that bio tek stuff. It is great b/c it adds shine and doesn''t dry out the coat like show shine

ya I use a finishing brush instead of a rag but same thing. I also pick out the shavings is her tail with my fingers so as to not break to much hair.

Baby oil through the tail makes it gleam and it doesnt go all sticky like show sheen does if it rains! Baby oil is also great for highlighting dark points on knees and hocks (just use a tiny bit tho)

I love bickmore mac wipes, they're a bit pricey (i got a free sample! lol or else normaly i could never afford them) but if you can afford it, they're GREAT! They get off grass stains, poo stains, they make the horse shiny, but not slippery. I love them! (they cost $15-30 canadian depending on the size you get)

on the topic of baby oil gel and cowboy magic being the same thing. they act completely differently on my horse. baby oil attracts dirt like no other on my palomino's tail, while cowboy magic doesn't. if you have a horse with a white tail, then pay the extra for cowboy magic. if you have a horse with a dark tail, then go ahead and use baby oil gel

I own a light gray mare and she stays rather clean! She gets a bath once every two weeks with Vetrolin White 'N Brite. Before riding I just go over her with a dandy brush, finger comb her mane using Absorbine's Sante Fe Instant Detangler, I undo the braid in her tail & again finger comb it with Absorbine's Sante Fe Instant Detangler and then re-braid and tack up. After riding I horse her off, spray Vetrolin Shine all over her while she is still wet and she goes in her stall. She remains pretty darn clean, her coat is always soft and shiny, and her mane & tail are in great condition & are thick. (: |
