I have a couple of achievements.

Being able to afford to pay off my own home. Sure.. the bank owns most of it but I'm not renting and I can do what I want with the place

Bringing a wonderfully happy and healthy little girl into the world even though she wasn't planned.

Being able to reconcile some differences with my sister after many years of angst.

i think my greatest feat was finishing HS while i was pregnant and graduating with a child. so many girls drop out, and i was VERY glad i kept going to finish school.wasn't easy, but i did it, and i'm VERY glad i did. may seem kinda small to others, but i thing aside from horses that is my biggest accomplishment as of now.

Surviving. Might sound small and kinda gloomy but there was a time I didn't think I would. Getting up was the hardest thing in the world and to survive through it and coming out to where I am now is just amazing. My greatest achievement was staying alive and not giving in.

My biggest achievements in life that I am most proud of is two things, other than my kids, one being the fact that I trained and studied so hard to become a firefighter, eventually earning the highest score of anyone on our department on the state tests. The other thing is that I was at the beach one day with my b/f, my kids, and a couple of my friends, and as we were getting ready to leave, we heard some ppl screaming to call 911. I went racing out of the shower house to see what the commotion was and saw this man carrying a child out of the lake. My b/f and I are both trained EMT's and we went racing down to the waters edge, getting there just as the man was laying the little girl down on the beach. We found her to be clinically dead, and began CPR immeadiately. The beach was packed that day and although we had someone call for an ambulance, it took a very long time for our rescue squad and the ambulance to get there as they had to work their way through the traffic.
Darrell, my b/f, was doing respirations and monitoring her lungs and throat, and I was doing the chest compressions. While I did the compressions, it would cause water to come up out of the little girls lungs and we would have to roll her over to let the water out of her mouth. He would then give her a breath and then the process started all over again. This went on for nearly 30 mins. before other help could get to us. Neither of us was willing to let anyone else take over.
Just before the ambulance and rescue got there, we finally had a pulse and she tried to breathe on her own. The pulse was weak and we thought we were going to lose her again.
She was only 8 years old with pretty blue eyes and blondish hair. She had been playing with friends and noone knows what went wrong to this day.
However, we were able to save her life although she had been under for approx. 10 mins. She now has permanent brain damage and will never return to the life swhe once knew. But, she is alive today.
Darrell and I both recieved many awards, including an EMS award hand signed by the Governor of Illinois, plaques from the fire dept, had all sorts of interviews, mail congradulating us from ppl we dont even know, ect. They called us heroes, but we, well at least I didnt feel like it, after all, I was only doing my job...what I was trained to do.
