Tell me more about the breed. I am just curious. Are they hot are they calm? What do they succeed in the most? What colors do they usually come in? If you own one, can you show some pictures? Thanks!!

| Senior Member+ | Here's a couple of pics of my Frankie Boy!! He was a wonderful guy, and I team penned with him alot, and won money!! All the halflingers I've been around, have had the best dispostions, very kind and gentle, and willing to work. Some breeders have bred these horses to be lighter boned, for exceptional mounts. Halflingers will do just about anything!!! They are stout little horses, and sure-footed. I know my guy had a heart of gold, and knew when my youngest was riding him, he'd take care of her. All Halflingers are a light chestnut, with flaxen mane and tails. With white blazes and socks. No other colors. These aren't my best pics, but here they are!!!

We have two haflinger fillies. They are both exceptionaly quite, gentle, and low maintenance. They naturally have gurgeous movement, and I really love their thick manes. Ther're only bred for the palomino coat with white or flaxen manes and no leg markings, but some are different shades of gold. My one filly is a light palomino while the other has a darker coat like light chesnut. Here's a pic. of Fiona as a yearling and my 5 year old daughter who can lead her anywhere. I think they are only alowed to stand 52-60". I expect mine to mature around 14H. |

My mother-in-law raised Arabian for over 30 years. Now she has gone to Haflingers. She says they are just her size, (she is only 4'9") and just her speed. She is no spring chicken any more at almost 60. She says the Haflingers are easy to train, willing, and kind. They are also quiet. She loves them. She has a few mares and foals (Some for sale) and a VERY nice stallion, Max. She lives in Creston, CA.

Haflingers come in different shades of chestnut. They are not palomino. Palomino is a diluted color and chestnut is not. Also, they only come in chestnut because if you breed chestnut to chestnut you only get chestnut. Most haflingers have a flaxen mane and tail.

There is a Haflinger mare at Pegasus named Lady. We call her The Tank, though, because she's built like one. Body like a box, thick neck, sturdy legs. She can carry a 200-pound person with no problems. I've seen some lighter-boned Haflinger but she is definitely not one of them! And she's pony-sized, so children and adults can ride her. Lady's got a great disposition-pretty quiet but she always seems to have a content expression on her face; I've never seen her ears back, come to think of it. She just does what she's told and takes things in stride. I really like her.
