Yep. You're getting a new bit.

Since my last show, I have decided to get a slightly harsher bit on Rayven. She just blows right by it sometimes!! We just have a plain "D" Ring Snaffle, and boy, when she want to run..she just wants to RUNN! And blows by it!! lol! So. I am thinking of trying a wonder bit. Any opinions?

You cant win anything without a good partner, wheather you be on his back or right next to him.it just wont happen.

I think that's a huge jump in bits.

What have you done to determine that a 'harsh' bit is the correct answer for your horse?

A Wonder bit isnt that big of a jump.
Because. She knows better than to blow by it. I need some more control than just a plain snaffle.

WoW that's quite a leap -- not only is there a huge difference in mouth piece action from a dee ring anything to a gag but now you're adding shanks too...I have a sneaky suspicision your horse will do one of two things or both (possibly more) -- 1. throw its head 2. evade - neither of which I could blame it for doing.

To me the two are like day and night...I'd be extremely cautious and really wouldn't suggest it, but that's merely my opinion

There's a HUGE difference between the two. And there's pleanty of inbetween bits I'd jump to first. I think you're going to an extreme.

Fact of the matter is, it's your horse and your decision in the end.

Why do you believe it to not be a big jump? What about their action is similar (both in action and 'severity' related to the force used)?

I would first analyze why she is 'running through' the bit and then take appropriate action. It sounds like she was fine in the D-ring and only recently is having 'problems' which leads me to believe it is not the bit at all. Before I switch bits on a horse, I make sure it is absolutely the last solution to the problem.
