yellow pee

I have noticed that when my horse goes to the bathroom, that it is like a dark yellow. I know that is can not be normal. the last time it happened I heard that it could be a bladder infection, or UTI. I heard that putting half a cup of white vinegar in 5 gallons of her drinking water will clear that up. I tried that last time and it worked should I try it agian? and what do you think it might be.

Dark yellow is normal Light yellow is normal. Even a little brownish is normal. A strong smell is normal.

I would try Apple Cider Vinegar....its pretty much the same stuff, but helps neutralise the PH level in the body..

I think she may have a urinary tract infection, so just keep an eye on her.

Has she just foaled, or been served? Any trauma in that general area?

well she is stuck with a stud. I am not around her all day so I really don't know if he is rapping her or what. but this mostly happens when she goes in heat.

Mares will pee a little at a time, very often, when they are in heat, so that is also normal

Is she supposed to be in with this stallion? Is she supposed to be bred by him? I hope so!

these 2 are alway together. in the pasture, and at night in thier pin. I have seen them mate, but I dont know if she is fertile or not. I mean she may not be able to get pregnet. anyway, after we more and all I think that stud is turn nice, or very bad, because on day I rode her over to my house to eat grass, and he went insane, 3 hours later, you could still hear him. finally she went over to the fence and he seen her and started to behave, they both grazed my the fence. so I predict that when we move they are going to have to end up selling that stud or get a mare, he don't like bing alone. I remember when I first got her. I could hear him next door going crazy. the owners thought someone was teasing him or something. they came out and looked and seen the mare and just said oh that is what it was. the whole week she was over here she spent all her time by the fence looking at him, they get along well. so I don't really know what is going to happen. I know when I take her from him, she does not have a fit or a change in attitude.

Once out of heat, she should not pee anymore like that till the next heat cycle.

For one, they are "buddy Buddy", which is the "insane" thing you saw when you removed the mare.

It is very dangerous as well, to remove a mare from a stallion's herd. Especially from the sounds of things. PLEASE be careful.

Is this your mare? If so, move her. Before she brings in another foal to the world.
