I don't understand why there is so much opposition to the free lease or free horse. Even when youlease a car you put your own money and time into it, eventually giving it back. Even on a regular lease with a horse, again, your money and time. I have given horses away for free, taken in horses for free, youname it. Seems like what you really need to worry about is having the owner yank it (the horse/lease) out of your hands while you are paying for it and enjoying it To each their own
