I don't know where you get the idea that I support this craziness. I have only been posting what I think people might be interested in reading, whether for or against this issue. I would think we would also like to know what "the other side" is doing and thinking. I have also posted on media links my disgust at the impoundment of these horses. I suggest you go back and re-read, with an open mind, what I have posted and the significance of those postings. No where have I said anything in favor of the impoundment of these horses, nor the arrest of their owners. As you and everyone else posting on this thread, I am throughly horrified and disgusted about the whole thing.

I hope once everything is resolved they sue the pants off of the city for the unlawful seizure.
I think you did a great job. I too joined the other group and do support that one.

Thank you. I wonder how many are just blindly following and don't know the truth.

I think its ok to have carriage horses in NY or other big city IF they have proper care. Water available at all times between outings, A lunch period for food and rest with out the bridle for the horse, shelter from the sun on a warm day, blanket or a rug for colder days. Anything hotter than 90 degrees the horse should be limited for rides in the a.m. and in the evening when the heat has risen. 90 degrees in the city is hot. Of course ppl wont want to ride in a carriage when to cold but if the weather is considerably cold then the horse should be rugged or used only during the warmer times of the day. Ppl dont want a ride if its raining but a shower or a passing T storm does occur and a "rain coat" should be placed on the animal also to care for harness and what have you. In fact I think they should have a shed unto which the whole cabootle (horse and all)can be put into upon a shower or T storm. Proper shoeing for the hard ground should be done providing at minimum a shock pad in between the shoe and the hoof. WOrk should be shared between other horses of such dicipline.

Outcome Carriage horse trial

I don't think this has been posted. For those who are curious about the outcome of the Chicago Carriage horse trial:

Two of three Chicago carriage horse drivers were convicted on misdemeanor counts of animal neglect on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
Michele Goudie, manager and co-owner of J.C. Cutters Ltd., and carriage driver Melissa Woicek received guilty verdicts on six and one counts respectively; a third defendant, Frances Dupont, was acquitted.

The horses they pulled out of that tent and loaded into the van were fat, clean and healthy. This has politics written all over it and is shameful. While they are spending thousands of tax payer dollars persuing this case, thousands of needful horses are slowly dying from real neglect and abuse.

That's what I've thought all along, Beeks. Somebody with a bit of political klout, wanted her out of there. I'll bet it's taken this long because they couldn't come up with enough bs to charge her with much.
I'm sure my horses wish they were so well cared for.
