| Senior Member+ | Wrapping a tail!
Okay, I know in the past people have asked questions about vet wrapping tails, and how it's done. I decided I'd make a new step by step of how it's done, Dressagegirl22's thread got me started. So here you go. First, you wash, and condition the tail, and make sure that there are no tangles. I like to leave a bit of conditioner in, to keep it tangle free. You start out by braiding the tail, from just a little bit below the dock, all the way down. Then you fold it over itself, wrapping it through the top of the braid, two or three times, depending on the length of the tail. ![]() Here you can see how you wrap it through the space in the top of the braid. ![]() Now I tied it with a piece of twine, just so I could show you how it looks, without it falling apart. You don't leave that there. ![]() This is how I attach the flyswatter, it's like, four or five pieces of twine doubled over, and looped through themselves. It stays better then if you just tied the twine in a knot. I actually had to re-braid it after this, because it was getting loose, you can tell in the picture that it's loose. Now it's time for the vetwrap. I wrap it around the middle of the braid a couple times, to hold it in place, and then, wrap it over the top, like this. ![]() You can see how it's wrapped through the space where you wrapped the braid. This is a very important step! If you don't do it, the vetwrap will just fall off the tail. Now I wrap the rest of the tail, with the whole roll of vetwrap, going over the top a couple times, and wrapping tightly around the twine at the bottom. ![]() Here it is almost finished, the twine was a little long, so I had to trim it, if it's too long, they'll step on it, and pull the whole thing out. ![]() And this is the finished product. It's a double posotive for Beau, because it ended up being longer then her normal tail (she ripped most of it out So anyway, that's how you wrap a tail, I hope someone finds this useful, lol.

Well I figured people seem to ask about it a lot, and I was doing it anyway, because silly Beau decided to rip her tail out again...

About 2-3 months, and then I wash it and re-wrap it. Some people leave it longer, but I find that it ends up getting tangled if you leave it too long.
