wrapped legs?

when should you wrap your horses legs?

I dont mean wraping them from the cause of an injury or for support.
but when should you/need to wrap their legs? and why?

The only time I wrap is because of injury or for support. Maybe I am having a dumb moment, but I am not sure what you are asking about?

No quesion is stupid. I am sorry if I was rude. To give you a better answer, anytime I ride I put sport boots on. Lunging depends on the horse and how hard of work they will do. In a lot classes at shows you are not allowed to wrap your horses legs because they want to see the leg movement. Other classes they are wrapped for protection, ie jumping, reining and cutting. After I finnish working my horses I remove the boots right away to allow their legs to breath. Wrapping for injury depends on what it is and how serious. I do not leave wraps or boots on my horses unless it is for an injury. This is just what I do and think, and I am sure everyone has different opinions on it too, so I hope this helps.

Well after shows I used to wrap my horse because generally he had done a lot that day and wrapping gave his legs extra support.

I also know some people that will wrap after everytime the do a lot of jumping in their lessons.

Also one of my old horses used to get wrapped everyday b/c he would stock up a bit and seemed happier with wrapping.

At a lot of show barns many horses get wrapped on a daily basis. In some cases it is needed but in others it serves little purpose.

You did mean standing wraps right? I think that's what you are asking about as you said after a ride or whatever.

I think so, it's generally done for injuries to help take down the swelling. It's been a while but if I remember correctly we put on some kind of poltice then cover with saran wrap and the put the wrap on. Is that what you are asking about?
