My husband's horror filly could be gone tomorrow and I would probably throw a big party. And at least go shopping and get myself a nice new purse ... The almost 8 weeks that she has been with us have been some of the longest 8 weeks of my life. UGH!!!

The only thing that would make me even blink is that I would feel bad about passing on her "problems" to someone else. And I have a feeling that if I were honest (which I definitely would be) that any potential buyers would run (!!!) screaming ...

Absolutely not. As long as I can help it, I will not let Hope get away from me. She came along at a very sad time in my life. She's my therapy when I'm having a bad day and my best friend. She never tells my secrets or talks about me behind my back. She listens to me when I need to vent and she's a good hugger

In a perfect world, I would never sell either of my horses and have no plans on doing so. But sometimes life gets in the way and circumstances happen that make impossible to keep a horse. I feel very fortunate I have my horses and am able to keep them for as far as I can see in the future!

Good thread...
It's simply not an option, in my mind...my 25 yr old mare Darkisse deserves the very best, I bought her a few years ago, thinking she was 14 yrs old (thank you, dealer) but she gave me so much for those couple of years, I rode her everywhere...she made me believe I could ride...priceless happiness. I have yet to find another like her. Anyhow, she is staying right here til the end, if it means working three jobs I would do it. She is my soul horse.

Yes. Actually, I gave her to a woman who had other horses (I knew her fairly well), and she has a forever home.

I couldn't keep her. No money, no place, so I did what was right for her. Not only does her owner know her history (training, tricks etc), she's a good horsewoman, her daughter is going to be an equine vet, and they're sending Twilight out for prof. training.

Athena is my soul mate. I would never give her up for anything.

But if the right offer came along, with the right people..I MIGHT...would it hurt like a son of a gun? YUP. But I could do it if it meant a even better home for her.

I can't imagine selling Red or Sarge. They are both young horses...they are 8 and 7 years of age...Hubby and I are 55 and almost 51. I plan on having the boys until one of us kicks the old bucket. I will ride until I am no longer able to and then they can be pasture puffs...God willing and the creek don't rise.

no. i have been blessed with the three most wonderful horses in the world and they are keepers for life, as long as i have anything to do with it.
they are my life. my love. my joy. my therapy. my world...my everything. i love them more than words could ever say or anyone could ever know. they've been there for me. always. no matter what. they're my monkeys...my monsters...my babies...and i will love them forever and ever and ever. they make my heart happy.

I love my mare but I have only had her for 5 months. I love her to death and I wouldn't willingly sell her ever. But, if someone maybe offered me a few million for her, I'd consider. (: lol

Only if circumstances arose that would not allow me to keep my horses, and they would be better off with someone else. Even then, I would definitely make sure they went to the best home possible and check on them as much as I could. I love my boys and only want the best for them.
