Can't believe I forgot:

Piggin String (TB) LOTS of Rope horses from his line:
Piggin String Thoroughbred

And for mares:
Queenie (QH) who went back to Chicaro (TB) and Dewy (TB):
Queenie Quarter Horse

Like I said, there are those that I like to see in a ped. So I don't think all TB ties are bad. There are just those that don't do anything for me.

Standardbred and Percherons? I had no idea some of the old Quarter Horse lines when back to those breeds! Learn something new ever day!

I will definitely have to do some research and looking around at some of the older bloodlines, Doublebarr. Thank you very much for the information.

You're welcome! But, I would use Mapleweb ranch to research before I would use All breed. I just can't link directly to mapleweb like I can allbreed. The database is much less corrupted than allbreed. Though, the links I put up on this thread are correct for these horses.

IMO in todays market (unless you are raising foundation to save certain bloodlines) people are looking at what is on the horses papers (show ring) ..after that the horses you see aren't really going to influence your horse ...I know right now in the cutting world alot of people are wanting an outcross (TB) because the horses are getting so close in relation ... besides alot of other problems like ..too small , toothpick legs etc ... It is a shame that it isn't like it use to be where you could show one horse at everything rather than having to have a diffrent horse for each event ...
CowBarbie, that was a real surprise to me. Everyone I know believes in doubling up those cutting lines. I know more people are being careful about HERDA carriers being crossed, but they are still staying with working cow horse lines. I would expect TB to make some negative changes for cutting. I have seen a few pedigrees with cutting/cow on the top side and with race on the bottom, but I always think someone did that who didn't have a plan. LOL. Maybe they did have one after all. Which breeders are you talking about adding TB to their cutting lines?

SNL ..Quarter Horse News ..Jan 15 2006 ... called Reaching Outside The Box...Outcrossing stallions..Searching for fresh blood in a shrinking gene pool .. some breeders named wanting outcross Phil Rapp..Scoop Vessels (his crossin running qh WITH 7/8 blood of TB to his cutting mares)..Chris and Vicke Benedict (DLR Stallion Station) .. huge article list others with and against ... Buffalo Ranch ..they brought in a TB stallion and were crossing on some of their best cutting mares ... another one who has mentioned needing an outcross is Paul Hansma (rode CD Olena) also dosen't agree with cloning ...really good article ... great magizine if you like reining /cowhorse/cutting/sale reports etc...

Since we were discussing the "all around" QH, I thought this article about Supreme Champions was interesting. It explains why we aren't finding horses earning the Supreme Champion honor any more.
The Supreme Report - Dedicated to Preserving Superior Conformation, Speed and Versatility of the American Quarter Horse and Promotion of the Supreme Champion Award Program

And another interesting article about the bloodlines of the Supreme Champions and the crosses that "worked" for producing all around horses.
The Supreme Report - Where Do AQHA Open Supreme Champions Come From?

CowBarbie, do you have a link to that article you mentioned. I found their webpage, but am not able to find the article.

No I don't ..I only have the magazine ..it was written by Annie Lambert and on the front It says Volume 28 #2 January 15 2006 ..You get 2 magazines each month (reason #2) Pg 116 ... Special Stallion Issue...
I tried too but couldn't find it ..here is a scan of the 1st page of the artilce ...he may have to contact them to get a copy ...
In this magazine they also have discussions on cloning(sp?) which is a huge debate thing ..etc... It is one of the best magizines to me.... Note : the horse on the article is actually a TB and he is the one Buffalo Ranch was crossing on some of their cutting mares ....

That's a really good looking stallion. Does it say anything about any particular TB bloodlines? I think I'll contact them and see if I can buy that issue. I read somewhere recently that Smart Little Lena has four clones. Does your article mention him? It looks like a magazine I would like, think I'll consider subscribing too. Thanks for mentioning it.

That Tb stallion is by Tale Of The Cat out of Condquistas Jessica ...They both go back to Northern Dancer ( I don't know Tb lines at all) ... Smart Little Lena was mentioned only because people breed for his lines ...They did another article on His Clones (diffrent Issue) ..he has 5 clones...3 were fine , one had really crooked legs (I believe they fixed the legs) ,and one had a very bad parrot mouth which I believe had to be surgically corrected ...and that syndicatin (sp?) that own him are always fight over who owns the clones ,what's going to become of them etc ... They had pictures of 3 of them (the good ones) ...
