Post Would really like some advice!

Hey. I am taking my horse to a show. I have never gone to a show with him before, and I dont know what he is like. He does tend to be a little hyper (saddlebred/arabian). I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what i could to to make him calmer at the shows. Lunging? before or after trailering? both? Please, any ideas will be really helpful.
Also, my horse is really good troting, and he keeps his headset really well. After we trot though and I ask him to walk again, he attempts to jig and he wont give me a good walk. It is also hard to set his head at the walk. What could I do? Also, he canters okay in one direction, well usually I have to go in circles for it to be at a good speed. But once I go in a straight line he speeds up. In his other direction its completly aweful and he is really fast. If I ask him to go in circles (in this direction) he tries to go in tiny circles. What could I do? He is in a kimberwick bit.
I was going to go to a show on the 22nd, because I have to work at it, but our 4-h club is big so we can work and show. I wanted to take him to see what he is like at shows, and what he is like when I take him to new places. I will show him in a class or two if he is good in the practice arena, and around the grounds, but if not I will just work with him. Is this I good idea? or should I wait? I thought to take him just to learn what he is like at shows and know what I have to work on. Thanks, for any advice! I need it!

hmm...i guess u have to experience a sho to find out...just keep ur cool while ur with him and with the walk transitions just ask alot more for the head..or try holding his head from the trot and if he keeps it really praise and give a lil but dont loose the head....for the canters..be sure both u and him r in balance..maybehes havin trouble balancing...or he could just be a fast canterer...be sure to relax ur seat and legs...slow him down with ur seat...like a ur on a swing almost...ur gettin ready to swing so u swing ur hips forward almost...do thatwith arms..and push really hard with the inside leg on the circle...i hoped this helped...im not an expert butlet me kno where u got lost!! running_
