Would love some help with pricing.

So some background info. I have been riding for 7-8 years. 5 of them has been spent riding green young horses and working at the stable.
I have competed lightly on lent horses and for about 6 months i free leased a horse a few years back. Mix that in with a weekly lesson for the past 8 years and you get me.

I have decided to purchase a horse i have gotten close with, prior to this horse i didn't have the desire to own a horse for the simple fact i enjoy riding many different horses who have many different personality and quirks. However this horse is different and ill do everything i can to own her.

Providing i can get a new job within the next few weeks then she is all mine however i have never owned or had to pay for the upkeep of a horse. So im clueless in that area.

Pretending we don't include the cost of boarding. Would anyone like to give me a run down of pricing. From food right down to dentistry and all that nice stuff. I live in Australia so i guess i would prefer some people from down hear to throw some general prices at me.

Kind Regards

Where abouts in Australia are you?

Hay is expensive. From the stock feed guys it's close to $20/bale, but if you shop around and buy direct it can be as low as $12 to $15/bale. It's probably not as good but it's not bad either.

Farrier - mine is $55/trim, $70/two fronts and I don't know about all four shoes.

Dentistry - I don't use a dentist (I know, slap on the wirst for me) instead I use the vet and that is $45 I think for a floating, excluding sedation, travel, etc.

Vet - I don't know about other vets, but mine is $100 before he even sees the horse *dies* Then add on vaccines, sedation etc etc etc. My bills run around $250 per visit for routine checkups/minor issues.

Pellets - most are about $20 give or take. Mine work out to cost me $2/day/horse.

New South Wales.

Thank you so much, that has helped out a lot. I figured hay would be nice and high -_-

Im trying to figure out a rough monthly average. The horse im looking at has spent months and is still out in the paddocks. She is a fairly good keeper and i wouldn't be showing or doing anything special with her. So top quality hay and feed isn't going to be the biggest worry as of yet.
