Post Worst Fall Ever?

What was your worst fall ever?

Mine was probably when i was seven, i was at my first show. The pony was only around 12.1hh and she bucked me off and i flew, beielve it or not about 11 feet up into the air right over my trainer's head onto the ground. I got back on and i won 4th place in the class. lol i love seeing pictures of me that day with Ky(the pony), i looked so proud of myself.

My other worst fall was around July, i was riding Banjo and he flipped over onto me. Luckily i wasnt hurt, only a few scrapes and brusies. But poor banjo, he had a swallowen knee for a few days, we got the vet to come out and he just needed to be on bute!

My worst fall was when I was 8 years old, riding my best friends horse as a favour. The horse took off at a mad gallop on the xc course and no matter what I did to try to stop her, she kept on going. She ran under some low branches and I tried to get as low as possible, but I got a branch to the throat! To make matters worse, when I came off my foot was stuck in the stirrup and I was dragged for a little bit. When I regained consiousness my coach made me ride back to the barn frown

hmm my worst fal was during a lesson on a neighbors kinda crazy pony. I was working w/o stirrups when he bolted. This pony if know for turning super sharp and he was head for the fence, so I knew he would turn at the last moment and I would hit it, so I kinda slid off. I hit my head and did a sumer sault. Even though I was wearing a helmet we later discovered that I had hemeridged my brain at that time, (4th grade) with would hemeridge and clacify until 7th grade when I had surgery to remove it, the size of a golf ball!

My worst fall was when I was helping train my friend's horse. She had broke her arm because of him (probably a good sign not to get on, lol), and asked me to exercise him until he healed. Well, my other friend (who hadn't riden in about 2 years) came to try him out aswell. He was very green and easily took advantage of people. She got on, and messed him up quite a bit. I got on and it took me 30 minutes to get him back to the way he was moving. I then asked him to lope, and he just f.reaked out! He reared and fell on me.

He then got up, kicked out (catching my leg) and took off in the round pen. No serious injuries done to me, just stiff, sore and bruised.

My next worst fall was off my coach's stud when he was really young. We were just going at a slow jog, and I guess the flies were really after his belly, and he just ran me into the wall of the arena, then bucked and dipped his shoulder so I flew right off. I ended up dislocating my shoulder, having a long crack in my lower arm and bumps and bruises. Quickly recovered though, and got right back on wink

So those two are my worst! LOL

Babs as also posted this exact question in the Off Topic section wink

When I was 12 I was trying to pretend that my draft/QH cross and I were Ian Miller and Big Ben. I was racing him around the fences at home (like a lunitic) when my horse triped over a jump (which didn't collapse) and as he fell over it, my foot went through the stirrup so I was dangling. He landed directly on top of me,when he got up he dragged me a few feet before I finally slipped free.

I was only winded (lord knows how I escaped that one) but my stop watch I had in my hand was crushed! LOL!!

my worst fall ever was when a friend's pony reared up and fell over backwards on top of me. I was winded and had a few bruised ribs but otherwise ok. I guess i was just lucky Marmi was a small pony.

Mine doesn't really compare at all, but I've only fell off twice...thankfully.

Anyway, I was at my friend's house riding her sister's horse, and we were trail riding in the woods bareback. Well I got bold and wanted to go over a blocked path that had a really pointy stick in the way. So I led the horse up and something spooked her and reared and slid me off. My hand got caught in the reins and she dragged me. I still had my legs around her side and she was literally kicking my butt. I had a bruised lower back and then my wrist hurt for a lil while. I still don't know how but I got my hand loose and off the horse went....

My worst fall wasn't a serious fall, it was just really funny lol. I was 11 and i was taking this 12hh pony in a mini showjumping competition. we were doing really well until i was coming up to the first part of this double, when the pony bucked and ducked out. I flew up in the air and landed really hard on by backside. I got back on and got myself together, and turned into this fence again, and the pony jumped the first part of the double, and then yes, he bucked and ducked out of the second part. needless to say, i fell on my backside in exactly the same place again! I couldn't sit down for a week, and i had to ride in jumping position! lol wink
