| Senior Member+ | If you have really cold winters, most worm eggs go dorment and the horses can't get to them under the snow much. But us here in the south, where it's still swimming weather in December, have worms year round, so we have to de-worm much more often.

![]() ![]() | Alrighty, maybe it is the location. It doesn't really matter we are on a daily de-wormer(its easier for us and so far it has worked really well for our horses). Good luck with your mare and expected foal! |

| Senior Member | Yup - has to be location. Because for the majority of the year here we are either under snow or its just plain cold. We only get about 4 months of good heat. The regular worming schedual here then would make total sense: May = before the heat, November = after the heat [ February 07, 2004, 06:44 AM: Message edited by: AnnaBelle02 ]

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | We deworm every month - rotating wormers of course. Our babies from the age of 1-2 get daily Strongid C so they don't get the monthly. We just give them Ivermectin twice a year while on Strongid. |

![]() ![]() | we deworm every 8 weeks, double dose strongid - P twice a yr and ivomectin (sp??) or Panacur at other times. Also the minute a horse comes into the yard it gets the five day panacur guard (or a double dose strongid-P for the horses im dealing in) Foals get wormed according to the instructions on the pack of whichever wormer we're using at the time wink .
