    worming a weanling

what would be the best way to worm my 5 month old? my vet said that i should give her a daily feed wormer and give it to her til she's 2. but i have no idea what kind to get or if that would even be the best at covering everything. right now i use the zematrine gold for the big horses and i was about to start using it on her, before i just used the regular zematrine cause it said that it wasnt tested on foals or lactating mares so i was afraid to use it. So what do u guys think is the best way to worm one and how often?

I thought you didnt worm foals till they were weaned.

They should definately be dewormed well before 6 months ('average' age for weaning).

she has been wormed twice since she was born and she is turned out with an 8 yr old gelding during the day and at night she goes to the roundpen which is contected to the barn so she goes in and out of there.

How often though? In other words, when was she dewormed?

Is the manure picked up from the roundpen? If so, how often? Is the manure picked from the field? (Again how often?)

She'll need a pretty tight deworming schedule then. It's recommended to deworm once every 4 weeks until they are one year rotating between an ivermectin product (no need to use zimectrin, it's the highest priced brand) and a fenbendazole product (like safeguard).
