wool versus cotton saddle blankets/pads

Ok I myself Only use woollen saddle clothes, unless I have to use a cotton one.
What is everyone's take on woollen versus cotton?
Do you have any preference and reason for that preference?

My reason for using woollen is that I find it is much more absorbent and doesnt irritate my horse after a long rider.
I find cotton doesnt soak up the sweat as much, and these days its usually a cotton/nylon blend, Which heats up really quick with friction.

So whats everyones opinions??

Wool all the way!! As you said they absorb more sweat away from the body and into the actual pad, the are far easier to clean as well, In summer you can rise them out and hang then over night.Cotton tends to absorb and trap sweat so I find they are harder to clean.

We have our custom hand made so we can have what ever colours we want as well as size, plus they are cheaper than normal ones and last longer, Cotton ones you can use for a year then have to throw out.

I have always been told that wool, or sheeps skin saddle pads were much better for your horse's back! Cathy

Nylon is BAD!! IMO

Wool blankets all the way! I have used a wool-cotton blend in a pinch but it didn't stay nearly as dry as the straight wool.
