Women's Clothes... what do I do???

My Mom had a heart attack last year and is down to 85 lbs. Anyway she cleaned out her closet and I have all these size 4 and size 6 Sportscoats and two lovely suits, most with the tags still on. I am no longer a 4 or 6 those days are long gone, but I cannot see throwing these things out. Some are nice wool Pennington blazers, Ralph lauren, Kaspar etc... all brand names from big name stores. They probably cost my mom a fortune. Anyone know of where I could donate them, or does someone on here need 'new' work clothes? Let me know --- Christy

You could always try to sell them on ebay or list them on our classifieds. If that is to much trouble you can always donate them to a Goodwill or Thrift Store. You can get a tax break or a donation ticket if you ask for it so she can claim the donation.

Women's Shelters! Most women who finally escape to them, need clothes to seek jobs with to start their new live.

I agree!

Lay them out and take photos and put them on a classifieds or something and try to sell them....Maybe you can donate the cash to a American Heart Association or something.... or donate the clothes themselves!

Thanks for the Ideas guys! I really do not want to make a profit off this as I remember needing to buy work clothes and not having any money. LOL. So I called two womens shelters in my area and they only take comfort clothes not work clothes and neither are taking anything until mid-January.

Oh well... maybe I should just bring them to goodwill or again if anyone on here needs work clothes let me know I will gladly ship them to someone....

I just called our local Women Against Violence Shelter and they would love to have clothes that would be suitable for work. I realize we are a ways away but - - - If you'd like their number PM me for it.

We generally donate clothing to Goodwill...get it done "today" if you want to be able to claim on your mom's or your taxes (if you support her) for 2008. Other local charities that support women in need are also an excellent choice. This includes those that help provide business clothing for folks interviewing and entering the workforce.

women's shelters... or put them into bags that go overseas to red cross or humanitarian aid places. Clothes are definately needed overseas.
