Thumbs up Wish my team luck at the IHSA show this weekend!

The ISU team has our first show with the IHSA this weekend! We'll be leaving for Northern Illinois University tomorrow around 4:00, and will be back Sunday about 9:00 (hopefully!). I personally will be riding in a couple of the classes in the Advanced walk, trot, canter category, but our team has people showing in all kinds of classes on the flat and over fences. I'm really excited but very nervous too! It will be a great learning experience if nothing else!

I'll see you guys Monday! (I'll try to get pictures!)

Thanks guys! I really am getting WAY nervous. I havn't had lessons in so long, that I'm afraid I'll get out there and make a fool of myself, especially on a horse that I'm unfamiliar with. I'm really nervous that I'll let my team down!

okay! Coming from a former IHSA rider and someone who ONLY showed IHSA, what you need to do is RELAX. Of course, easier said then done, haha.
Just make sure you are all put together in your show stuff QUITE a while before your time to ride, hair and helmet all done. (i always had a problem with my hair and helmet!! and western hat. Talk about headache!)

Also, really take to heart what you read about the horse you have drawn. Sticky leads DEF means SET THEM UP SET THEM UP! Push that butt to the inside and ride em sidways down the rail if you have to!! LOL

Im pretty sure you've shown before, but your right, riding a totally new horse right when you walk in the ring is always a challenge, haha. When you mount up outside test em a little. Can you collect their nose at a halt? Or do they throw their head and nose out? That def means LIGHT REIN, of course. There was an arab at Berry named Grayson, you didnt ever try to get in his face!! Hed pull you totally out of position!

Okay, i could prolly go on all day so im gonna shut up now, just have fun and remember, its your first collegiate show, your entitled to mistakes!! Dont worry bout letting your team down. If they are a good team they will be all over you supporting you and cheering you on, and shouting tips on the rail. They wont expect firsts!! So dont sweat it.

I myself rode Adv walk trot canter and its one of the hardest classes to place in in my region. Its hard to shine when their are 12 other riders that look just about as good as you! LOL, pray for a GREAT draw!! Althought my slumpilyl built shoulders always killed me. I never placed higher then fifth. boo.

okay really shutting up now, Hope this helped!

Oh great, you're not supposed to tell me that about that class. lol. Thanks for all the tips though! I'm just packing now and getting ready. We leave in just under 2 hours! Whoo hoo!!

Thanks for all the support guys. I charged up all four of my batteries, so hopefully they'll hold their charge (been having problems with that lately) and I can get some pics!

See you guys Monday!
