Thumbs up Wish me luck with my "baby" **Update and pics on post nine**

I'll be taking my 6 year old who has never been off the property in her life to her first show tomorrow.. I got Maebelline as a 5 year old who was barely halter broke due to a messy divorce. Long story short, my BO's wife was the horse person, she left, and he ended up with the horses and had no clue what to do with them so he just made sure that they were fed UTD on basic health matters. I started her under saddle last fall () and she has progressed beautifully, and tomorrow I'll get to see just how her smart, sensible personality holds up away from home. We have been working on loading and standing in the trailer for the past several months, and as she seems to do with everything, she handled it like a pro. I can't wait to see how she does tomorrow! I will probably only show Melody, but if Mae seems to keep a level head I might get on her and walk her around a bit. If not, I'll give her more time to adjust to her surroundings and keep the experience positive and wait until she's ready to ride. I'm a little apprehensive, but I know she'll be great!

Thanks, I hope so! If we bring home ribbons I'm sure it'll be on Mel. My goal for MAE is to stay alive with no broken bones.

The show went GREAT! There were a few stressful situations this morning, but after that got worked out things ran fairly smoothly. I didn't ride Mae, but she was absolutely fantastic on the lungeline and walking around the show grounds. She ended up spending most of her time inside the trailer because I didn't trust her not to pull back when she was tied alone, but it all ended up working out perfectly fine. Mel was great in most of her classes, too. One class she decided to JUMP over the shadows from the grandstand, that made for an interesting ride, but all in all I'm very pleased. We ended up completely paying for the entire show with some money left over from paybacks.

Unfortunately, my camera has some issues and doesn't seem to like taking pics in daylight, but it's perfectly fine at night. The first pic is the only daylight picture from the show that even somewhat resembles a horse, and the rest of them are from when we got home and it was dark out. Excuse the DISGUSTING trailer, that's what happens when you leave a horse in a trailer all day..

My mares

FINALLY HOME!
