Has he previously been kept under lights? That's what happened with my horse- I got him this winter, and at his old barn he was kept in a heated barn under lights, and it's taking him forever to shed out after growing a winter coat. I feel your pain

nope. He wasn't kept under lights. he was pretty much kept in a shed thing, with a attached pasture. and didn't do anything. haha what a rude awaking for him now too. cuz he is exercised daily now, and is a show horse. he was before, but not like this. lol.

Regal's still a hairy monster while Ebony- whose got 11 years on him- has been shed out for weeks! I mean, I love having the curls stick around, and he IS shedding copious amounts, but I'm just a little concerned.

wait for a hot hot day. work him really good til he gets sweaty and then after you untack him start currying. He should shed a lot of hair if he is hot and sweaty.

have him get all matted up with mud and let harden dry.....yes I'm serious! Then you curry it off, you'd be amazed how much hair comes off O_O Also working him up into a sweat, let dry and currying will also help. The best is a good scrub in a bath but weather doesn't always permitt that
