*winter blankets...*

Montana is 64 inches long measured from middle of chest to butt... he has a pretty wide chest and as he is 3 he is going to grow a lot 'out' if you know what i mean... what size winter blanket should i get... i thought 66" because hes still growing and broad chested... what do you think?

I think you'd be safe to go with a 66. What kind are you getting?

A 66 shouldn't hurt, but if you get 2 big then they have a problem keeping it on.

im not sure what kind i should get actually i wanted something to keep him warm in his stall but will stay on in single turnout... im new to the blanket this being the first time im boarding...the owner of the barn told me to get a winter blanket and thats all she said... any suggestions on that also?

Has your horse ever been blanketed? If not I would go with something cheap until he learns to not try to rub them off.

I would go for a WeatherBetta Turnout blanket. You can keep it on while he's stabled and while turned out. I can give you some webites that have pretty good deals on WeatherBetta blankets if you want...

JumpsxGlory.... that would be great..... and moostang... never since the time i owned him maybe when he was a baby.... i was so mad when i went to a tack auction and a decent used winter blanket went through. i dont know the brand but it was in good shape, no tears and stuff... it went for 6 dollers! i was like DADDY! GET IT!but we didn't :-(
now he has to stick with buying me a brand new one...... but we won a 1000 doller internet shopping spree so i guess it doesnt matter but i wont have it for christmas...

If you want to do something cheap, light, and waterproof I like my stormbuster blanket, it has a belly wrap that velcros (I am a big fan of velco, it so much faster). My only complaint is the color fades pretty fast.
