Its a hard habit to break as they get addicted to the high they get from it.

I suggest you find a substitute thing. As someone mentioned put him to work before he starts at it each time. This will either get his mind off it for good or will teach him that when he wants to do it he has to work.

I have not tried it eiter. My 36 year old has been a wind ****** since befroe I got him 21 years ago. I don't like using a collar but it is eiterht hat of have him get gass colic. He has to stay in his stall several days a week at our stable so he cant go walk it off. If your horse can be out as much as possible it will help. Whebn Whiskey was out every day we didn't use the collar. He only likes to Suck right after he eats so if he is in the field he will still find a place to suck but then he walks around all day and toots the gass out. In the stall he can't move arond as much and that is when he has gotten each of his 3 casses of gass colic. So better the collar than death.
I am currently giving him antacids with his dinner to see if it helps but so far not really any difference.

Honest suckker is not a swear word!

The bitterlicks hasn't arrived yet. I'm thinking it's held up because of the holidays. I will let you know though as soon as I get it & see what he does with it.

Any word on the Bitterlicks? Don't try Quitt, he didn't quit. If this stuff doesn't work, he's just going to have to get a collar.

Quit is not a cure for cribbing. its for horses who chew on wood because of a vitamin deffenciacy. if they are missing that type of vitamin then the horses stops chewing on the wood. but if the horse is fine but is a cribber the quit will do nothing.

I don't know if their is even truth to this, but from what I've seen windsuckers have been more sensitive to colic then other horses. I owned a QH mare who was a really bad windsucker (every time after she ate she'd go windsuck on a certain tree in our pasture) and she passed away form colic. I know a lot of other people who have had windsuckers who died from colic.
