| Senior Member+ | I'll have a two year old stallion next year. Yes, I will be breeding him. To my own mares, not to outside mares (not sure he'll ever stand to the public), and to only a couple. I want to see what he produces and then see how he performs (he won't be started under saddle for another two years at least). He's got the bloodlines and the conformation, now it's almost time to see what he throws and what he can do. I don't think it's hard on their bodies to breed that young. If he's sound and in good physical shape, he'll be trying it on his own anyway. Should everybody breed their two year old? I don't necessarily think so, but it is their choice. People do things differently. Doesn't make it right, doesn't make it wrong. As for 'quality' that definition varies from person to person. Heck, I'm sure there are people who will think my guys are NOT 'quality' and I'm sure there are people who will think they're the cats meow. That's just the way it works.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Very very good points Fallon and exactly what I've been trying to say. I know a QH breeder thats considered one of the best in the country. They wouldn't breed 90% of the horses in the country and almost everyone would breed their rejects. Whats quality to one isn't to another. |
