In many ways, it is a good thing. (How boring would it be if we all thought the same?)

But in the case the original poster portrayed, it is not a good thing, in my opinion.

I may have missed it in the OP all I saw was one persons opinion. Since I don't know that person nor have seen the horses she/he owns I really had very little to go by. For all I know I might not like the OP horses either?

Yes, it was one persons opinion.

However, that one person has pretty sound judgment most of the time, and our ideas of what is quality and what is not are pretty much the same.

So I was going by what I knew about the OP.

As far as breeding a two year old stallion I'm a big beleiver in doing so to find out what he can produce. So often I see people stick a bunch of money and training into a stallion then find out a few years later he can't produce decent foals. Then they keep breeding with him anyway because they have so much money invested in him. Makes more sense to me to breed them at two and if they don't like the foals geld him and move on to the next stallion to promote.
Firstly, the "Stallion" is not even a 2yo yet. They won't be spending lots of money on training, they sell themselves as trainers.

They are breeding to outside mares, so using them as experiments?? For a fee too.

As to it being ugly, they probably don't think so. I just prefer my horses to not have obvious conformation faults and have a bit of pretty to them.

Let's not forget how hard breeding is on a young horse's body. I would not breed a two year old, no matter the quality, for that reason alone... any more than I would ride one.

Which is the point I was trying to make not everyone wants the same thing in a horse. For instance I don'ty care about pretty, I'm into cutting cows don't care about a pretty horse when it comes to that sport.

And my point about breeding two year olds ( I raise QH's so their b-day is Jan 1 ) is why spend a bunch of money and time training and showing a horse then find out afterwards hes not going to be a good sire. I'd much rather finmnd out what he can produce first. And yes I charge a fee for my stallions regardless of age. I don't force anyone to breed to them thats alweays their choice.

I can't imagine hating anyone for it but thats just me. You must hate people really easy.

" exactly " what is hard on a two year olds body to breed some mares? I've had horses since 65 and never heard of that before. Have a 26 year old stasllion thats still breeding and sound as can be.

its not about pretty, its about structure that cannot be changed, poor angles and balance will always be poor angles and balance.

contracted tendons will be contracted tendons. pigeon toes are pigeon toes, over at the knee is over at the knee, cow hocks are cow hocks, these things don't change

some faults can be worked with for certain disciplines, some cant and some should just be never used for anything at all.

as for breeding a downhill baby of not even 2 FOR ME, thats a huge no-no he is not ready body or mind for it.

I have no problems with not breeding for specific bad conformation don't see anything said I ever did. Nor do I think someone should breed a two year old if they don't want to. Its totally a personal choice.
