Bucky was a hack horse that bucked everyone off... he was already named when i fell in love with him, and never changed his name.

I let my boyfriend pick my Morgan's name.... after my last horse, I promised him I'd take a break from new horses... then 2 months later I came home with a new horse. Well the bf was royally ticked but interested enough to go see him when he arrived.

The day my morgan arrived, he unloaded, was quick to introduce w/ all the other herd members and seemed extremely quiet over the fence. We turned the herd loose, my morgan promptly whipped everyone's butts and claimed the kingdom for himself (it was over in 10 minutes and quiet ever since). He actually climbed up on top of a log pile and stood there for a while, like a mountain goat, as if he were announcing his royal status.

My boyfriend named him Dutch after the movie Dutch (Ed O'Neil, aka Al Bundy)... he felt my new horse was cantankerous and matter-of-fact, rough around the edges but kinda charming... just like the character in the Movie.

Whats funny is I've always had a secret obsession for the name Dutch, but I was saving it for my next 'special' horse... at first I was sad, I didn't want to 'waste' my special name on this brat... but he turns out to be pretty special.

He's my Dutchy-Doodles now.

Well, my girl came with the name Jasmine aka Jazz. I automatically thought about Caretojazz here on the forums and Jazz, and how many horses there are named Jazz. It was not the common thing that got me, it was that they all were males lol. So I was thinking of something really feminine, and came up with Jazzy, but it didn't look quite feminine enough for her, so I put an 'ie' instead of a 'y'. And thats when Jazzie got her name =)

I didn't name my boys
Valiant Leader - an ex racehorse, so he just gets a cool name.
Yoki - His name means rain in Indian language.
Yoki's mom was a paint..I don't know how many of y'all saw the move "Spirit" but there was a Pinto named Rain..
SO that's how she named him.

Talking The name game

His name was Blue....and he just didn't look like a Blue. I've always given my animals human names.
He looked like a Ben..and so he became Ben. He seems to like it.
Around the barn he is known as Ben-Jammin...but his ApHC reg name is Benspottedbefore.

Meteor came with his name. Since I leased him for about 7 months before buying him, by the time he was MINE, he was already 'Meteor' in my heart.

Mars came with the name Boomer, which just didn't 'fit' him. We had decided a while back to stick with a celestial theme for the names and Mars is the one hubby liked the best, and luckily it 'fit' Mars when I bought him (he was a surprise for hubby).

Dusty got his name because my husband wouldn't let me name him "PigPen"

Belle, because I didn't like the name Sassy that she came with.

KC, because she is a sorrel and I am a Kansas City Chiefs fan.

DeDe, because that is what Mo named her.

Lexy, because she is registered Keyhole Lexus.

Donkey, because he is one.

Sugar and SheiNeighNeigh, Jule had names for them already.

These are all their barn names.

My horses name is now Champ, changed from the awful name Chug (what?!). I kept the Ch sound and he likes it.

I worked with Scarlet for several months before I bought her, so her name was already set in my head. It fits her well though. She is very feminine and prissy. and red.
