Question WHY Is She SHEDDING!!??

I didn't know whether this was a health, grooming, or general thing...

It is COLD up here in New England!! And Lucy is SHEDDING!! A LOT!!! It just comes off as soon as you touch her! Why is she shedding when it is so cold? She has a very thick and soft coat...But I don't get why she'd be shedding right now when there is snow and wind...

She doesn't get worked out at all...she just roams around her area...She's the pregnant one so that's why she doesn't get worked...and she's a mini...hard to ride one of them LOL

It is because the days are getting longer. Think on it, it is already March and warmer days are ahead. She needs to start a bit now and get a head start No worries! Fancy is shedding to and the high was 25F today without the windchill LOL

I'm in NW Wisconsin and temps have been jumping all around- freezing cold one day, mid-upper 30's the next. But I've noticed our horses are starting to shed some too.

Yep, longer days. It does not matter how cold or hot it is. As the days get longer or shorter the coats change. It has to do with the amount of light the retina gets.
