Unhappy Why does he come home so late??

I kinda just need to talk so I figured I'd talk on here. Sorry if I bore you...

I went and hungout with one of my friends today and was having a good time. It was 9:00 so I figured I'd call home and tell someone in my family that I'd be home at 9:30. My brother answered and I asked to speak to my mom but she was sleeping so I just told him. Then I asked who all was home and it was just him and my mom. My dad wasn't home... I was kinda upset because who works till 9:00 when their work gets out at 5:00? He always does this... So, I figured he;d be home soon and would be there when I got home. Well, I stayed out till 10:00 no one would of cared if I stayed an extra 30 minutes so I did. I came home and guess what.... My dad still wasn't home. His care wasn't in the drive.... I mean, does he hate us that much to stay home for so long?? I mean, I'm not a big fan of my dad. I have never been but it would be nice to have him there when I came home and not think that he hates us all and he would rather work than be with us. It's not just that either.... When he comes home he says hi maybe something else, grabs some dinner goes to the Great Room eats and does some more work depending on the time. He doesn't sit down and talk to us and on occasions he'll ask us how our day was but that's all... He just coems home late, eats food, goes back to work on his laptop, and goes to bed. Then when I do see him he complains about something because he always takes me to the barn and he "would rather be doing something productive than be watching me ride and spend a good 5 hours at the barn." Direct quote from him... It just gets to me...

Sorry for boring you guys... Just had to let it out...

Hey sweetie, I'm sorry, that would be hard. Have you tried talking to him about it? Do you feel comfortable talking with him and asking him to spend more time with the family? Maybe you could plan a "family night" activity and give him an invitation.... PM me if you need to talk, okay

*Big Hugs* Jeeze that stinks. Have you ever tried talking to him and letting him know how he makes you feel? Maybe you should if you can. I don't think he hates you, but I don't know what it could be. Just talk to him or try spending more time with just him.

Thanks Kim... Yeah, it has come up before and it just starts a huge fight. He pretty much said that it's because he hates it here... I try to spend time with him. Sometimes he can be so nice and then the next minuit he acts like he hates you and will just make you seem so small. I hate going out with him now because I've learned that he will just get ****** off at something... The only time he is ice for a long period of time is during Holidays and that's because he doesn't want to come off as a bad husband or dad to everyone so he is a nice as can be.

It sounds like your dad could be suffering from depression Its not completely uncommon for dads to have that when they start to get a little older. Have you talked to your mom about it? What does she say? Is she happy? Do they fight a lot? If you don't want to talk about it in the open, you can PM me or IM me...okay?

I would talk to him. My dad used to work for AT&T and was on of the top salers in the nation or w/e. He was never home b/c his work was down town and he left at 4am and would get home at 9 and just go to bed. We never saw him when we were growing up. Now he owns his own thrift store and is home much more. He will suprisingly take me shoppping and do things with me. He finally realised he negected his family for too long and it actually shows. He will realise what he is doing hopefully and maybe you can talk to him.

You don't know my dad... He wont realize. It has been brought up many times before and nothing happens other than a fight. He is an architect (sp?) and has a partnership with his company but EVERYONE leaves at 5:00. Except him... He stays for whatever reason...

Has it always been this way or is this something newer.....? Again, what does your mom say? Do you go to a church or have a school counselor you can talk to in private? If it wasn't so late I would offer to call you so we can talk....
