Why didnt we do something?

You know i read all of these treads on here where ya'll resuce these horse that are extreamly emaciated and i makes me think back to Max. some of you problibly remember my first post on here was his story. I think back to that and wonder, why, why didnt we just take him? The woman didnt want him, we were there we had a trailer and we had some place to put him. we even had HAY! I completely blame my self for him not making it. I feel so bad that i didnt even try to get my mum to take him. (i guess i thought it was pushin it as she had just bought me my mare) Lord know what kind of horse he would have been with some weight on him! I dont know... i mean we called AC and everything (actualy 20 some odd people called AC) with no results. they went there and said it was old age and he had sway back... he was 14 for pities sake! Makes me wonder about MSU (the vet they used was from ***). oh well just needed to rant a bit.....

You shouldn't blame yourself. Sometimes the worst things happen to the best of people. Look at it this way, maybe it was meant to happen sothat next time you will be able to recognize the warning signs and do something. I read your blog on max and I understand how bad you feel about this. I also had the same experience with a mare once. Somedays I still burst out crying for no reason and the focus all my attention on the school horse and then I feel a lot better. Spoil yourself and the mare you got from them (do you still have the palomino?) and think happy thoughts, love. You still have a lot of life in you to share with other horses. Enjoy what you have now.
