My opposition is not so much the cloning, but the the fact that the clone is not exactly the same as the original. Basically I think of it this way. A clone is more like a Full sibling. The original MAY have been the great performance horse, but the clone may not be. So the clone has the same genes, but that dosen't mean the clone is going to be the awesome perfommance horse the original was. Basically I feel that if you are going to clone a gelding to then own his genetics in a stallion you will have to 're-proove" his perfromance ability. I don't think the clone can be considered as good as the originial until they prove it in performance.

No point. No point! They won't be the same, they would have to go threw EVERY little thing and have ALL the SAME experiances to be the same, and even then, CHAOS my dear friends, CHAOS. Unless it was the most well put togeather horse in the world and you wanted it up at stud a bit longer, there is no point. You will get something that looks the same, but looks aren't everything.

there is no stopping science. in a way it is interesting to watch how we have developed sooo quickly. cloning can have its advanatages (clone organs so body wont reject it). but it is also odd that we can do such a thing, its something that you read in a make believe book. :S

I always wonder where clones get their souls...since we forced them into existance...

Yuck. The whole thing gives me the creeps. And when you factor it into the breeding game, it gets worse; the whole idea of breeding is to better a given breed, not reproduce exact copies (in theory) of what we already have.

OMG! WOW!

I am SO going to do this! Cloning animals is really great, I'm so glad we are screwing with nature like this.

Only 360 thou? That's nothing. Some horses are selling for 16 million. 360 000 is pocket change.

I can't wait til us poh folk can afford these high falutin clones.

On a serious note... cloning is ridiculous. I can't believe it is even legal. We should not be messing with nature like that.

The point to breeding is to try to have a foal better then the sire or dam. You strive to create the perfect horse. Cloning a pretty great horse takes away from the purpose of breeding. And is just wrong. IMHO.

It brings about the whole argument that there is no god and there are no souls. Because if God is the creator of the universe, and gives every living creature (or just humans, as some people think) a soul, then how is it possible to clone? You are going against god (and nature) by creating something in a petrie dish.

What about when they clone babies? When they are normal and complete, with personalities, spiritual beliefs, and 'souls', will that not cement the notion that god is a man made creation? That there is no actual soul?

I'm not saying anything against religion, just stating facts. This cloning business is not good no matter how you look at it.
