Question Why are there no albino horses?

Do they not survive?

I was just wondering if there was some genetic reason that we don't see them...there is albinism in other creatures.

I know that we have MANY types of all white horses, but no albinos with pink skin and pink eyes...

Albinism simply doesn't exist in horses. It's not that they are born and die, the gene for it just isn't there.

There is an article about this... I will have to find it... but as JB said it is impossible for this to occur in horses as they do not have the genes necessary... Guess God figured we did not need red eyed white creatures! :-)

there was a horse born in new zealand a few years back and it was said to be one of the closest a horse can get to being albino

There are a lot of albino fish, lizzards, deer, peacocks, turtles and many more but I don't think that I've heard of an albino horse.

Ummmm, so how close can a horse be to Albino. What exactly are the characterstics of an albino horse? I've seen a few horses with albino skin/coat and red eyes, is that not close enough?
