I did not know that any of these breeders were complaining. Sorry I am not sure what your point is here. At least one thing for sure... ALL of these horses have a history and their breeders are not back yard breed nothing to nothing people. Those are the ones that have flooded the market with grade horses who have never been touched. My point was to show how flat the market is. Papered horses with training are not bringing what they did a year ago.

I simply posted this to provide an understanding to those who have rescued horses and are now asking $800 to $1000 for those rescues and wondering why they have no buyers. Maybe the rescues need to cut back if they cannot sell theirs. Maybe the BLM should have cut back a whole lot a long time ago since they have not been properly feeding or caring for their horses for many years. WE the taxpayers pay thousands of dollars for horses in pens with no future. Why are they (the BLM) not being accountable for that?

As it should be. I always tell people a S-10 and a 1 Ton Dually are both pickups, would you pay the same for them?
Very true, County. I always tell people, if you don't want sale barn prices for your horses, then don't take them to a sale barn! They never have, and they never will net the price someone wants. Especially, in todays market.

Sorry Mary. Guess I should of been more specific. My post was not directed at you or what you posted. It was directed at the OP of many well bred babies going for next to nothing, and some of them not even getting a bid. It was directed at how these people were having to pay a cash deposit, to even unload their horses at the sale.

Again, sorry for the confusion.

There was a horse sold for $52,000 at a sales barn in Mt. last month. Not all sales barns are created equal by any means but I think I get your meaning. Last night I went to a cattle sale in town. There was a guy that sold two yearling colts for $30 and was going on about how bad things were. Personally I wouldn't have paid $3 for the both of them. If your not going to halter break, trim feet, worm, feed, or even bother to sell at a horse sale what would you expect?
