Who to breed to?

Im in need of some advice. I want to breed my Appy mare to something really good. I like the Bulldog look. Preferbly something with a butt the size of Texas. She is broke to death to ride and is a decent looking mare. She Has some Halter pts on her. She is all QH on bottom with Buzz Burnett and Impressive. On top is Prince Plaudit and Colida. She is N/N. I will breed to QH or Appy I don't care. Here are some pics. Thanks

I want a good all around horse, one that I could halter, but could jump on and go trail riding with. Doesn't have to be WP, Looks and build matter and temperment.
Here are some studs Im considering,
Dillon
JOHNSON SHOW HORSES - OBVIOUS STYLE "Obvious Style"
JMK Coolafella - AQHA PHBA Palomino Stallion - N/N
Ima Stylish Kid
ImaBartenderTwo
Any other considerations for a stud would be appreciated.
Thanks

I am located in Missouri, AI shipped semen wouldn't be a problem, here is some more pics of her and her pedigree. Thanks again for your responses, negative or positive keep them coming Thanks

No one. Go buy a foal . With the price of foals right now, it's a LOT cheaper to buy rather than breed. And shop around to see real foal prices. Some breeders are still trying to hold on to higher prices, but they won't be able to for long...

There are over 9.3 MILLION horses in the USA. We really don't need a lot more being bred. Give a foal that someone else bred a good home instead .

It depends on what your gonna do with the baby. Show Halter, Ranch,WP you need to figure out what your gonna do and then find the stud.

Very pretty mare, and looks pretty well put together from what I can see in the pictures. Would need better ones to really tell, but she looks very well put together. I agree with Mare. It really depends on what you are wanting to do with the foal.

That completely turns me off stallions to be honest; if the owner doesn't put at least one or two decent conformation shots (not angled, or head-shots or galloping over a pasture) then I think they are hiding something and pass them by.

Also, there is a video you can see him move around and how he holds himself and he also looks pretty good there to me. And he's in training under saddle, which also appeals to me. Too many stallions aren't ridden any more. His pedigree looks good going by the website, and seems quite proven. He hasn't shown himself, but then he's only just four this year so I would assume they plan to soon? And honestly I like seeing horses enter the ring a little older; I'm not too fond of Futurities as they are very hard on growing babies. This shows me his owners were willing to take it slowly with him and that appeals to me as well.

So, in all, just going by the information on the websites, JMK Coolafella is my pick. He has a nice build for halter, but isn't too muscle-bound, looks to have good conformation, nice movement, and a good disposition. His pedigree is proven in the show-ring and one assumes he'll be heading there himself. Overall, he's a really nice stallion.

1. You didn't say where you are located and if shipped semen is an option.

2. Remember the ApHC just changed their registration rules for Appaloosa cross breds. and if you get a solid foal from an appaloosa QH cross, you have to pay extra money to get the performance permit before you can show. Since she is half QH and is only heterozygous for appaloosa markings, you stand a better chance of getting a colored foal when bred back to another appaloosa.

3. Any chance you can post her pedigree??

4. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to comment on your stallion choices other than to say I have a personal bias against cross breeding appaloosas. so I just won't comment further on that part.

Very pretty mare. Whereabouts are you? Would you consider AI at all?

Out of all the stallions you posted the only one I really liked was Obvious Style. IMO you should breed to another Appy, that way you have the best chance you can of getting color. Color is a big part of the breed...

You definately don't want to consider any light horses, like the Cremello or a Palomino because then if your foal does come out colored you'd never be able to tell anyways.

Here are a couple of my favorite Appy studs
Maids Dream
Dal Porto Ranch

Maid Magic (son of Maids Dream)
Deans Ranch - Apple Valley, California

Jr's Shado (check out his foals WOW pretty much guaranteed color with him because he's a few spot)

I know two breeders there in MO with stallions.

And I like this guy

Jr's Shado (check out his foals WOW pretty much guaranteed color with him because he's a few spot)

But she looks rump high and so does he so that might not work.

Have you looked here?

I think your mare a better than the stallions you have listed. I don't think they have any strengths to help her. Would you consider semen from Char-O-Lot Ranch? They have top horses, take good care of mares if your mare is there (I worked for them several years ago in the AI program). As much as these other breeders are asking for their studs, you might as well look at studs who have produced/won at higher levels.
