I just shave it really close so you can kinda see the pink skin showing but its still white, dirt doesn't stay on this way, and any horse shampoos that are purple, make sure not to leave it on to long it will stain but long enough to scrub it really good and rinse super good because if theres soap left the white stains easier. Then I put show sheen or something like it. baby powder works but i find take out the shine, it could be just me. I also find cowboy magic doesn't work with pee stain it makes them look dirtier.

I do coloured horse showing and this is how i make them socks whiter than white..

I dampen the white socks and just remove any wet mud etc (mine are outdoors)

I use a blue shampoo (one that says white on it somewhere.. the brand has come off so forget what it is..lol) I then apply the shampoo on

I then wash the shampoo off thoroughly and this should get most of the evil dirt out

Once it dried... I get a pan and pour a little bit of water in, i get a chalk slab thingy and then dip the chalk into the water and then wipe the chalk all over the white area (quick way of making chalk paste)

Once removed the chalk.. I use a black hoof oil and this darkens the hoof and makes the sock lool more whiter

I then bandage it over and once Ive arrived at a show i brush it out with a dandy brush and that usually works. If not gong to a show.. leave it on for an hour and then brush it out

Quicsilver shampoo, and often at a show I'll put baby powder on the socks. When I brush it out, all the dirt brushes out with it.

I usually take what ever blueing shampoo is at the store when I need it. My favorites are WHite'n Brite and Gold Nugget. I wet down their socks and Put some of the shampoo on their socks, then scrub it in with a curry wait for it tosit for a couple minutes rinse and repeat. Also when I am taking the to shows I make sure to do it the night before, but I also do it the morning of, because they usually stain their socks by morning.

Nothing works as well as Quick Silver!!! It goes on bright purple... don't let it scare you.

I LOVE shapelys white spray- it is wonderful stuff, and so much easier than fussing with baby powder.

The only thing I do different, I clip with a #40 blade 1 week before a show.

I use whatever shampoo I have to wash and scrub really well.
