A fly mask will certainly be your best friend I REALLY like the Cashel mask with the long nose.

DEFINATELY stock up on some STRONG sunscreen to prevent sunburn to the area... I really like the BULLFROG water/Sweatproof formula, it seems to actually LAST all day and doesn't run into their eyes, nose, mouth, etc if they get wet or sweaty. Use at LEAST a #45 SPF.

I would THEN apply the fly mask. You really don't want the eye area getting sunburned (Not that you want ANY area sunburned mind you, but they eye area even less so!), so using the one-two combo of good sunscreen and good fly mask usually does the trick perfectly!

My neighbor has a really loud, heavy white overo mare who has to have sunscreen on her BODY along with a good fly sheet with neck sheet or she gets sun blisters , apparently it's not uncommon in paits because of the high level of pink skin exposed. when it gets really hot, lots of sun for several days in a row here, they actually have to keep her stalled during the day and turned out in the evening hours/early morning hours only.

LOL Love your horse's commentary on having this pic taken

Peg My dads old horse had white over one eye just like yours (without the eyeliner) We had a fly mask on him everyday..even in the winter(they can still burn in winter). It really REALLY made a difference... Only I don't know how a fly mask in winter where you are would work.. Does snow build up on it or do they shake it off?
