Smile White face

my mare has a white face. What can you use to clean around her mouth? Her mouth gets so dirty. The same as what others suggested to clean the body on the white horse - like show clean, etc.

ALSO - what is a good tool to use to clean the mouth and head when your giving a bath?

I keep baby wipes on hand for show days to clean the nose and mouth. A wet washcloth works fine also. Baby shampoo won't sting the eyes if you are concerned about that.

This is what I do. I have a paint...his face is mostly white. He LOVES to get his face dirty!
But, if you have time, I just take a sponge and some baby shampoo to wash their face. Otherwise, I use the baby wipes.

As MyMr.Ed said, my mare (white faced also) absoloutley ADORES getting her face dirty! I think they just enjoy our irritation cause by them...haha. One thing that I have found that works MOST of the time, unless it gets really bad, is either a)shampoo lightly and massage in, or b) Green Spot Remover. GSR (Green Spot Remover) works really good for on her face...I've never really tried it around her mouth. But on her face and her white legs, the GSR works wonders...I use the GSR by Cowboy Magic...I think...lol.

Also, I noticed you seem REALLY new here...on the forum. So...a welcome to you! Haha, good luck with your mare. It's especially difficult to keep Amy's (my mare) face clean because she's blind in her left eye and sometimes the eye runs...and it's difficult to get off. Good luck!

those new baby shampoo wipes work awesome, because they are mild and they rinse off easily
