I need some good tips for keeping a white stripe white in the winter. Also, my halter is giving a ring of dirt right around his nose and it is very hard to get off because it's like caked on...... what should i do

It helps some if you wash your halter a lot. Also you can rub the stripe with a warm, wet rag to clean it up some. Even if it's too cold for a bath that doesn't seem to bother them if you keep them inside while they dry.

| Senior Member | What I use for my white pony is a little bit of rubbing alcohol. You don't need much, a little will do and it works like magic. Just take a little and put it on a towel and rub it onto the fur, it takes a some elbow grease but it will work trust me. |

I don't use soap at all on the blaze. I just put some hot water in a bucket, wring the wash cloth or rag out really good, and scrub a bit. then you can rinseit in the hot water and wring and scrub again.

Cowboy Magic Greenspot remover works very well. We usually use it on this little pony for show season when she lays down in the poop in her stall, but it works in the winter too. With that you don't have to worry about getting the soap out. You do have to rinse the fur wear you put off with a towel, but it is much easier than soap. As far as the halter thing. If you leave it outside on the fense or something it will get muddy, so you could bring inside and just take it out there when you go. It is not a huge change. Washing it a lot will help too. You could also maybe get a few more halters to change out. I personally don't like them, but rope halters are so thin that they won't get the nose area so dirty. Hope these ideas helped you. good luck with it.

Another thing is there is a product by Twinkle Glitter called Twinkle White Crome. You just squeeze the tube with sponge tip for application, and to get it out, just brush or rinse it out. I've never used it, but I've always loved Twinkle Glitter stuff. I know I'll also need to be stocking up on it for the next shows, as my horse has a huge blaze and stockings all the way up her legs. Gonna be fun keeping them clean. Twinkle White Chrome cosmetic cream instantly enhances white markings with a shimmering effect. |
