Just curious though, why the Lysine and Paprika? What do they do?
Well I believe Paprika is thought to help bring out the coat in a bay or chesnut, some horse with a red tone. I'm not sure about the Lysine.

The paprika is to combat sun bleaching of his coat, though he was just started on it, so no idea if it really works. The lysine is to supplement a general lack of that particular amino acid that happens with horses on not very nutritionally sound hay. http://www.horses-and-horse-informat...fallnutr.shtml Since he was starved, I figured that he had been severely lacking in certain vitamins, minerals, and proteins, so I put him on it along with an aged pony in the barn. The pony has been dropping weight and acting depressed, and someone suggested I try the lysine.

I started him off with a few handfuls per day, and moved him up to 1 1/2 pounds per day. Now he's gone down to just a few handfuls per feeding, and will go down a bit more soon for just a coat enhancer. I haven't weighed the handfuls, so I can't be more specific there; probably 1/4 of a large plastic feed store scoop.

wow! great job! I am encouraged as I am starting out with a horse in similar condition to how he looked on day 1.
BTW: how old is he and what breed?
