Question Which is better?

Which do you guys prefer on a western horse?
a long natural mane?
or a short pulled mane?
and be sure to say why!
Personally I love my mare with her little western cut mane, its prob only 3-4in long and it shows off the spots on her neck

Depends on the horse. If it's a pleasure type horse, an even short pulled mane looks nice.

But for barrel horses and reining I like the long manes.

Ditto. I like short on pleasure/halter horses, but long for reiners and barrel horses.

well, I say that if ur actually gonna keep up with the maintaince, long manes look pretty. And I mean keep it nice, not the long manes that are kinda different levels.

But for showing most of the time I like the short manes (easier cleaning. hehe)

I saw it depends on the horse. For working western horses (reining, cutting, WCH) and speed I expect to see a long mane. For WP horses, the majority of them are being shown with short manes, but there are some out there with long manes and some roached!

On my guy I like a short mane, if the horse has a nice neck, why not show it off! If you have a long mane on a WP horse, that horse better be very steady though.

Hmm interesting, so opinion aside which is a judge preference in all the previously listed events?

There are WP, WR, & Trail horses placing and winning at the world level with roached manes and long manes. If it is long, it needs to be maintained properly and still banded to have a nice overall look. So it's not effecting the judges at all. They judges are looking for proper movement, not if the mane is short or long, but like I said if it is long and your horse head bobs, might not be a good idea to have it long as it will draw more attention to the head and neck.
