Look up Ona good Impluse. She won WP @ the Select World this year, won Select WP @ Congress this year as well and won some of the majors last year as well. She is being shown with a long mane!!! I believe you can find a video of her on YouTube.

B/C my horses are all reiners they all have long manes and I do not change that if I show in other events. I have shown in Halter with a long mane and done fine. Give the fact that my horses are much smaller then the norm. Now for some events I do braid it is some fashion. I know a lady who shows her Gypsy Vanners in H/J events and he has a really really long mane. She just puts it up in a french braid and you would never know his mane goes past his shoulder. This is one of my show mares. NEVER NEVER SEES any type of clippers. Not even a bridle path.

Not even bridle path??? jeez that would bother me sooo much, lol I hate trying to put a halter on horses that have no bridle path! Its just a tangled mess, but thats just me!

Depends on the horse. I prefer Taylor with a short, clean mane. Looks best on her. Now Jazzy, even for an Appy, she has a great mane. I think I may keep it on her.

That is Jazzy, the yearling. This is Taylor with her very messy, and poorly done mane. My poor girl and her wild hair

I have yet to have a problem with the halter or bridle getting tangled. As you can see in that picture the reins are around her neck as I did not want a picture with her bridle on. When it was pulled off it did not even mess up her mane. Also with reiners at the end of each run you HAVE to drop bridle so they go on and off quite a bit.
