when to clip??????

hey i was wondering when you guys start to clip i wanna clip my horses now but iam always worried it will be to cold for them. so any opinions would be great..............

I don't start clipping until late fall when they get their winter coat, then stop in late january. I don't clip the summer coat, unless for some reason the horse hasn't adapted to the California summer.

no i mean clipping off thier winter coat here i cant clip in the winters it is way to cold and i have to clip in the spring because some of my horses shed out really slowly so they over heat.

It really isn't the best idea to clip a horses summer coat, which is what is coming in underneath all that winter hair. Then best thing to do would be to use a shedding stone and some elbow grease. You could also blanket your horse, if they are warmer, they will start to shed out.
