N/H means that the horse has one positive gene, H/H means double positive gene, and N/N is double negative, no HYPP gene. However, when I read the term *carrier*, I get that the horse that is N/H is just a carrier and shows no symptoms, not the case, an N/H horse can most definately have attacks.... wink

Sorry for my terminology. I've been in a "Genetics" terminology all week because of a test.

It is so interesting to ask people who have that gene and listen to their responses when you ask them WHY they breed that horse when there ARE Impressive lines out there who are N/N.

Well I don't think I will go into the breeding business. Pressive is 18 years old and I originally bought her just to ride on trails and maybe do some poles, barrels ect..... When I found the ad for her I was a little concerned about her age, but when we went to look at her she looked great and had tons of spunk. That is when I found out she was in foal. I will probably only breed her one more time. I really like working with Willie(her colt)and thought it would be nice to have a couple of young ones around. Hopefully, I can train them and not mess them up. Anyway, thanks for the advice and info. red_hors

No, I have not found one for sure. I am looking at a local Stallion TNT Money Bars. He has Three Bars as a grand sire on the bottom and Bennie Leo as a grand sire on the top. He is placing in division 1 barrels and poles. He is black and my Pressive is a roan. So what will I get for a foal, do you know? Maybe I'll give haltergirl a shout and see what she has, thanks! So what about your horse? How old, what's it's name, you know the low down?

Take Care!

OH and I wouldn't worry about not getting a foal registered, the no H/H rule wouldn't go into affect until 2006 and the no N/H rule not until 2024!! So I don't think you need to worry about it for one breeding! Besides the fact that it hasn't passed yet, and is a huge controversy!

Haltergirl, no prob, I have seen your boy and he is a very very nice stallion applaud
t_ford, my boy is 5 years old, his registered anme is Jack Scattin Leo, he is Two Eyed Jack, Leo on the top and Impressive on the bottom. Love him to death. Well, if your mare is a roan, and the stud you are looking at is black, I would say you would probably get either a chestnut or a black, then again, who knows with these animals, I have seen appy foals hit the ground looking nothing like either parent, but that is a totally different ball game
