Before I would consider when to breed this mare, I would want to ask myself why do I want to breed this mare? Is she really above average ability and conformation? Are her genetics sound? Will the stallion also be of good quality? There are enough unwanted horses in the world. Why add to the numbers?

Yes, I do want to breed her, I think she has excellent confirmation and ability. She has attitude, but learns quickly. She is not a dead head. She has good cow sense, can chase a can, and trail rides well. As for the stallion I am looking around, but I am not just going to breed to just anything. Pressive's top side is Grand Sire is Impressive(I know alot of people shy from) she is HYPP/Neg. She has Three Bars on the bottom side and top. I am not into the breeding and selling....I am looking to breed for myself. pony

T-ford, since you are breeding for yourself then you can breed the mare so that she foals when ever you would like.
Since your in Ohio then I would think that you would want the foal to arrive when the weather is warm and nice...like mid to late spring?
Early summer?

This GESTATION TABLE FOR HORSES should help you figure it out! wink

Cool Ford. If this rule change goes through,
your mare will probably JUMP in price as a broodmare if that is what you are looking to do.

AQHA is about ready to not allow ANY foals who are N/H or H/H to be registered unless they are spayed or gelded. THEN, the mares and stallions eventually will lose their registration numbers if they are the same too! It all depends on how it comes out of the meetings this march. Make sure you breed to a N/N or non-impressive bred stallion. Your foal will jump in price because the demand for impressive lines with the N/N will become greater since those with N/H mares or stallions will be in a BIG pickle here soon.
