When to apply fly spray

Is it better to apply fly spray before or after I ride?

I do it before and after. I do it before, because when they flies are biting him when I'm riding, there's no way he can pay attention to me, he has to nip at them and try to get them off. The only bad thing is that after I ride and take his saddle off, he gets foamy around his girth

You should definatley do it before you ride, if not after too.

In the feilds, horses can react to flies and other bugs by running, bucking, tail swishing, and rolling. When we ride them, we are not allowing them to deal with the flies in a way that can get them off, as those behaviors are unacceptable.

I do both before and after is possible, but always before. I learned to do that after almost being bucked off by one really PO'd horse!

I always apply before, I hate being on my horse and were trying to do something and he is going crazy because of the flies.

I apply before and after also. I also try to apply it on him in the morning before the flies get bad so he gets some bug relief before later in the day when we ride.

I apply it before...then again after, especially if I hose them off(which I usually do). I make sure that I wipe it around their ears and face as that's where they're most bothered..especially out on the trail.

I usually apply right after I groom. And than I tack up & ride.
And after I hose them off, I will also put on some more
