Question When should I start seeing results?

I just picked up Cosequin for Ollie and will be giving it to my barn manager tomorrow morning so he can be put on it ASAP.

I'm just curious, when should I start seeing results from the supplements and what exactly should I see/expect?

30 days before you should start to really see any results. Usually more willingness to move, bigger stride, better attitude, those are the most common changes that you will notice.

Im not familiar with that supplement.

It is my experience that within 3-4 weeks you will notice a difference in the horse (coat etc) assuming he was deficient in certain things to begin with

Anything to help the coat I would think about a month. It takes like a year to notice a difference in hooves. I thought that was a joint supplement though. For the joints you may need up to 3 months. It took me about 2 months to notice a difference when I started taking glucosamine. You might notice it more quickly, but I woldn't give up if you don't see a difference in a month.

Cosequin is a patented formula designed for cartilage repair and support. found to be most effective for early to mid-stage arthritis, advanced arthritis i think may require more of an anti-inflammatoury along with it to be equally effective. not sure but i think Cosequin now ALSO offers a combo with MSM in their product.

i have an older TB mare with advanced arthritis in her hocks and knees, going on eight years of this..... she has been on Cosequin now for three months and i am quite satisfied and impressed with the result. the mare is pasture sound, and lightly ridable (always her choice but we limit the hills and no more jumping on purpose) and the bucking has all but stopped : ).
the initiall dose would be 4-5 scoops twice a day to establish the level then maintenance would be two scoops every OTHER day. my mare is currently on every other day and holding very well. i saw beginning improvement within two weeks but the full effect was over a longer time frame, averaging 30 -45 days.my only regret is that i wasn't brave enough to look into this sooner. the cost was a bit intimidating at first, but when thought out, Cosequin is actually the least expensive! prob'ly cos so little goes soooo far!

and of course, all too true is the fact that sometimes, what works very well for one can work not so well for another.

best of luck to you in this venture. i hope your horse will be comfortable for many years to come.

It is a joint supplement, not hoof or coat.
