When should I start looking?

I'm looking to buy a horse, & I'm having to pay to hold the stable until I've found 1.
But I'm going on holiday for a couple of weeks at the beginning of september & for a weekend in August, so I can't actually get the horse & move in until later in september.
I've never bought a horse before & was just wondering how long it will all take (including a vet check etc if i find a good horse). should I be looking & ringing people now or leave it til after my holiday in september?!
i have been looking at horses but havent contacted anyone yet as i wont be able to take it for ages..
(sorry stupid question i know!)
xxxx

That could take a week, or it could take a year. It is not really a set time limit. I took lessons for 3.5 yrs all the while looking for a horse. I accidentally found jester just this last summer. I would have a hard time paying to hold the stable, it makes sense I guess, but that is a very drastically changing time limit!

yeah what i mean i guess is, if i see a horse i really like now should i go check it out? knowing i cant actually take it til mid-late september..? i dont want to be seen as a timewaster..
otherwise i will just be waiting completely but i could miss out on my perfect horse (i've already seen a couple advertised who i like) & also ill be paying for an empty stable for a lot longer!
